Live data case study.
Professional Triathletes Organisation
In the moment storytelling.
The Professional Triathletes Organisation utilises our Live Data technology to identify and tell stories as they unfold in the T100 Triathlon World Tour. Real-time heart rate, positioning, speed and power data keeps commentators in the know and enhances broadcast to showcase key events on the course. This is coupled with a second screen app that provides superfans with even more insights, engaging them on an even deeper level.
Data in action.
During the T100 Singapore Women’s race, our technology identified a gripping head-to-head battle.
Lucy Buckingham was leading the pack, pushing at 98% of her maximum heart rate, while Lucy Charles-Barclay trailed just 6 seconds behind, maintaining a more sustainable 86%. The live heart rate data revealed the true intensity of the chase, predicting the inevitable overtake.
Fans didn’t just see the race; they understood the race. Live data visuals complemented broadcast commentary and provided a deeper layer of insight to the action.
From athlete to fan.
Capturing live data across triathlon's swim, bike, and run disciplines is challenging, especially with waterproofing requiremnets and transitions between phases. We mesh RFID chip timing and GPS data to handle dropouts, ensuring reliable heart rate, power, and performance metrics over the 3+ hour race.
The cloud-based engine provides real-time data to broadcast and generates industry-leading visualisations, making the T100 Triathlon World Tour the most advanced broadcast product in endurance sports.
Dependable data processing.
The PTO benefits from our reliable, centralised platform designed for continuous data processing and visualisation at scale. Our approach prioritises redundancy and smooth degradation to ensure the data always flows, even when conditions are tough.
By centralising the data in one trusted location, we can compare it in real-time against other athletes or historical data, and push meaningful insights directly to multiple outputs, including broadcast partners and second-screen experiences.
More to come.
This is just the beginning for the T100 Triathlon World Tour. We are already capturing advanced metrics like watts-per-kilo for cycling and exploring new wearables to unlock even deeper insights into athlete performance. As we refine our platform, the potential for PTO expands—from predictive analytics for enhanced fan engagement to tools for improving athlete performance and injury prevention.
Live Data is transforming how endurance sports are experienced, and with We Are Sweet, the Professional Triathletes Organisation is leading this evolution.
