Live Data.

Live Data presented on mobile, laptop and TV screen broadcast in realtime

In the moment storytelling

Uncover and tell stories at the heart of the action, in the heat of the moment. We Are Sweet is pioneering methods that transform live data into engaging narratives for fans in real time. Working with the Professional Triathletes Organisation, we are creating technology that enables the T100 Triathlon World Tour to identify stories as they unfold, keeping commentators in the know, and visualising key events on the racecourse through exciting graphics.
Live Heart Rate HR data being shown on broadcast

Real time data in action

During the Singapore T100 event, our Live Data technology enabled commentators to showcase an intense head-to-head battle for first place in the women's race. Real-time heart rate graphics showed Lucy Buckingham leading the pack but pushing hard at 98% of her maximum heart rate, with Charles-Barclay chasing just 6 seconds behind at a more sustainable 86%. Live Data told the story of Charles-Barclay overtaking Buckingham, giving the fans more information than they’ve ever had through broadcast graphics aligned with commentary.
Real time sensors transmitting from triathlong bike to fan engagement second screen experience

It’s not easy

Something as simple as heart rate drives compelling personal stories of intensity and endurance, but the journey from athlete to screen is challenging. Multiple sensors and sources must accurately capture and continuously transmit this data to a centralised location before it can be processed, visualised, and distributed. To get to the exciting parts, we first need to normalise all data and attribute it to the correct digital athlete while accounting for gaps.
7 Step Live Data lifecycle method

The methodology

We Are Sweet has created an approach that prioritises dependable, centralised processing of data in a single source of truth, with reliable redundancy and graceful degradation. This solution allows us to compare data to other athletes or historical data within the sport, all in real time. By doing the often overlooked groundwork, we can quickly run insights, leverage AI analysis, and push meaningful information and graphics to multiple outputs at scale. Stories happening during the T100 Triathlon World Tour go live from our platform to commentators, broadcast graphics partners, and a second-screen fan engagement experience.

More to come

Heart rate is just the start. We’re already capturing watts-per-kilo power output from athletes on the bike and exploring a range of other wearables that provide deeper insights, bringing viewers even closer to the action and excitement of a live race. Once the hard work of capturing, centralising, and cleaning data to be hyper-usable is complete, the possibilities are endless. From future predictions for sports betting to injury prevention for coaches to interactive 3D course visualisation for fans, Live Data is the key starting point.
